According to a report coming from Sportskeeda, Tom Colohue revealed WWE management has issued a mandate to have longer matches.
According to Colohue, the reason for this is related to the absence of many stars due to COVID. Obviously, with fewer people there’s fewer matches and that means to fill out shows the matches have to be longer.
The card for The Horror Show at Extreme Rules is only 6 matches. It also features several cinematic matches.
Colohue is also stating the cinematic matches are going to be very long. I guess it takes quite a bit of time for someone to dig another man’s eye out of its socket.
Here is the line-up for Extreme Rules:
- Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt in a Swamp Match
- Seth Rollins vs. Rey Mysterio in an Eye for an Eye Match
- MVP vs. Apollo Crews for the US Championship
- Dolph Ziggler vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship
- Asuka vs. Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship
- Bayley vs. Nikki Cross for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
WWE could always add some additional matches on SmackDown. Hardy vs. Sheamus would seem like one which could be added if Sheamus is available. We could also see some form of a rematch between Riddle and AJ Styles which is set for tomorrow night.
We could also see some form of a tag team match added. When you look at the line-up, it’s debatable if these are the matches that should be going long.
