Rumour: AEW Name Asked To Be Pulled From Dynamite

Many fans noticed that last week on Dynamite, Excalibur was not part of the commentary team. Instead, Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone were joined by Tazz to call the action for the show.

Unlike when Tony Schiavone was off the show in previous weeks with a COVID-related issue, the commentary team did not state why Excalibur was missing.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer commented on Excalibur’s absence, noting that the commentator is actually rumoured to have not wanted to be part of the show:

“The story, again, not confirmed, was that he didn’t want to be on the show thinking it would be the focus of the show. As it turns out, it became a much bigger issue because he wasn’t on the show. There is no word if he’ll be back next week.”

Footage of Excalibur from many years ago emerged over last week, showing him using the n-word in a promo at a PWG show. While it has not been confirmed, some have speculated that this is the reason Excalibur wanted to be pulled from the show.
