AEW TNT Champion Cody Rhodes is currently a free agent. His AEW contract expired at the end of 2021, and he has been working without a contract ever since.
Dave Meltzer previously noted that there would not be any AEW wrestlers appearing in the Royal Rumble, following reports of WWE planning an ‘unexpected’ forbidden door entrant into the match.
However, with Cody no longer under an AEW contract, many fans started speculating about a potential Rumble appearance for the American Nightmare.
Meltzer took to Twitter today (January 18) to quickly put those rumours to bed, simply saying:
Cody Rhodes will be on Dynamite tomorrow night. He will not be in the Royal Rumble. Nor will Jon Moxley.
While Cody may not be appearing in the match, you can see IMPACT Knockouts Champion Mickie James in the women’s Royal Rumble. A full confirmed list of entrants for both Rumble matches can be found here.
