Samantha Irvin Wanted New WWE Role, Explains Her Departure WWE

Samantha Irvin has further addressed her departure from WWE, explaining that she was hoping for a new role in the company.

On October 21, Samantha Irvin revealed that she had left her role as the WWE Raw ring announcer and would be exiting the company.

Irvin made the announcement on social media as she went on to thank the fans, the wrestlers, production crew and more.

While some fans have speculated that Irvin leading WWE would lead to her joining her fiancé Ricochet in AEW, Irvin has now responded to that suggestion.

Replying to an Instagram user saying Ricochet was “behind” her departure, Irvin elaborated and said that she didn’t like being a ring announcer, and had hoped to move onto a different role on WWE TV.

She wrote:

“I don’t like announcing.

“I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action but I don’t love being an announcer.”

On this past Monday’s episode of Raw – the day Irvin made the announcement – longtime ring announcer Lilian Garcia returned to WWE and will seemingly be the new Raw ring announcer for at least the foreseeable future.
