Sami Zayn Opens Up About Current AEW Stars Who Inspired Him WWE

WWE star Sami Zayn has opened up about the influence AEW’s Matt and Jeff Hardy had on his career.

Zayn is one of the most popular WWE stars currently wrestling in WWE.

Speaking on WWE The Bump, the WWE Tag Team Champion noted that he was inspired by the Hardy Boyz growing up, as they proved that ‘smaller guys’ had a chance in the business.

When asked what his favourite tag-team growing up was, Zayn said:

“If we go really young, I love Demolition. Really, it was the Hardy Boyz. Actually, they were so pivotal to my whole life.

“They came into my world at an age where even the idea of becoming a wrestler, or training to become a wrestler, was not possible at all.

“I was just so inspired by them because it seemed like younger and smaller guys (had a chance).

“They were doing their stuff in the backyard. I gravitated towards them. They were massive inspirations on me — in my late fanhood and early years of wanting to be a wrestler, and training to become a wrestler.”

Zayn notably had a brief rivalry with Jeff Hardy in 2020 when he, Jeff and AJ Styles were feuding over the Intercontinental Championship.

Jeff recently returned to AEW TV, saving his brother from an attack on the April 12 edition of Dynamite.

Jeff recently discussed his plans for the future, including retirement, which you can read more about right here.
