Last night on SmackDown Live, Kevin Owens returned as a babyface, sort of. Kofi Kingston’s Fastlane WWE Championship match against Daniel Bryan was scrapped by Vince McMahon, and Kevin Owens was chosen as the replacement. Owens went on to defeat Bryan in a tag match alongside Kingston later in the night. On top of this, Owens’ best friend may be gearing up for a WWE return in the near future as well.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Sami Zayn has been medically cleared to compete and is ready to return as soon as possible. WWE are reportedly trying to find a way to bring him back imminently, however it’s not yet clear as to what brand he will be appearing on, or whether he will be a heel, as he was when he left, or a babyface.
Zayn was injured and had to undergo double shoulder and rotator cuff surgery in June 2018. This was not the first shoulder injury Zayn has had, but hopefully it will be the last.
The Canadian native has not won any championships since being called up to the main roster, but perhaps upon his return he could find some gold to hold on to.
