Sami Zayn Reflects On WWE United States Championship Reign WWE

Sami Zayn has taken some time to reflect on his recent reign as WWE United States Champion, which came to an end two weeks ago.

On August 29, Sami Zayn defeated Solo Sikoa to win the US Title.

From there, his reign was characterized by him taking on John Cena’s tradition of the WWE United States Championship open challenge.

Zayn’s first title defense was against Cena on September 5 – a match that ended in a no contest after both men were attacked by Brock Lesnar.

From there, Zayn had four consecutive successful defenses, picking up wins against Rey Fenix, Carmelo Hayes, Je’Von Evans and Aleister Black.

He then faced Shinsuke Nakamura in another match that was ruled a no contest due to inteference from the returning Tama Tonga and the rest of Solo Sikoa’s MFT faction.

Then, on October 17, Zayn put the title on the line against the returning Ilja Dragunov, with Dragunov picking up the win.

Reflecting on his reign today, almost two weeks removed from the loss to Dragunov, Zayn wrote:

Been reflecting on my run as US Champion. One of my favorite things I’ve done in WWE. 8 weeks, 8 very different opponents, 8 bangers in a row.

It’s hard to do something great. In the age of content, it’s even harder to do something memorable. It felt like this was both. Grateful.

After his title win, Dragunov has carried on the US Title open challenge himself, retaining against Aleister Black last week.
