Sami Zayn has spoken about why his match against Johnny Knoxville at WrestleMania 38 is his favourite of all time.
The bout was the culmination of a weeks-long feud between the two which began in January, and many feared would be for the Intercontinental Title.
The match saw the involvement of Jackass alumni Wee Man and Chris Pontius, as well as director Jeff Tremaine, and new members Jasper Dolphin and his father Compston “Dark Shark” Wilson.
In an interview with WWE Deutschland, Zayn shared his thoughts on the match:
“It’s one of my favorite matches ever. I don’t think a lot of people understand the little things you have to do to make sure it flows so well with someone who’s never done this. So I take a lot of pride in that side of it. […] I put it up there with some of my best matches ever, but for different reasons.”
Zayn also praised Knoxville for his performance in the event:
“He did great. As much as I want to insult him – and I do, I still do insult him every chance I get – but I can’t take that away from him.”
Zayn currently performs as part of the Bloodline stable, along with Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions the Usos, special council Paul Heyman, recent NXT call up Solo Sikoa, and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
