WWE star Sami Zayn has revealed that he previously pitched to wrestle a WWE Hall of Famer at a recent SummerSlam event.
Sami Zayn didn’t compete at SummerSlam 2019. If he had his way, the former Intercontinental Champion would’ve went one-on-one with WWE Hall of Famer “X Pac” Sean Waltman.
On Twitter, a fan shared a video clip of El Generico and Waltman wrestling at Chikara King of Trios 2011. The tweet, acknowledging the anniversary of the event, caught the attention of Sami Zayn… for some reason.
Zayn shared the tweet, revealing that he had asked to face the guy from the video at SummerSlam 2 years ago. He tagged Waltman, clarifying which wrestler he wanted to face at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
Revealing the pitched match-up, Zayn tweeted:
“I asked if I could wrestle him at Summerslam two years ago. @TheRealXPac, that is. Not the other guy.”
Zayn returned to action on April 8, 2019, after 10 months out on injury. The only pay-per-view Zayn competed at that year was Stomping Grounds, defeating The New Day alongside Kevin Owens.
At WrestleMania 37, Sami Zayn wrestled Kevin Owens, with internet personality Logan Paul at ringside. After his short WWE stint, Paul has given his opinion on the world of wrestling.
