Sammy Guevara Issues Apology For Past Inappropriate Remarks

After the emergence of past inappropriate remarks, Sammy Guevara has issued an apology via Twitter.

Amidst the current #SpeakingOut movement, a clip was shared of Guevara talking about when he attended a WWE tryout in 2016. In the clip, Guevara said he wanted to rape Sasha Banks. Whether this was an attempt at humour or not, it was highly inappropriate and needless to say, not funny.

Here is the apology Sammy Guevara released on Twitter:

“I’ve made stupid, inappropriate and extremely offensive comments in my past. In my idiotic mind, I thought I was being funny in using words and terms that represent nothing but horror and pain. I am truly sorry for my hurtful words and actions, and I will never forgive myself.”

All Elite Wrestling has not currently commented on Guevara’s past comments or his current statement. We will provide updates as they become available.

UPDATE: Guevara has now also apologized directly to Sasha Banks publicly.

“I also want to apologize to Sasha Banks for my unacceptable comments. She’s an amazing person who didn’t deserve to be the brunt of my offensive remarks. I spoke with her earlier & she helped me learn a gigantic lesson & I thank her for that. Once again, I’m sincerely sorry.”

UPDATE: All Elite Wrestling has now announced the suspension of Sammy Guevara. You can read about the announcement here.

UPDATE: Guevara has now released a video apology on his YouTube channel. The video is primarily him saying he has changed and used to think shock humour was funny. He apologized to Sasha Banks as well as anyone he has let down with his words.
