A Dubai boxing promotion has recruited Sammy Guevara as a special guest announcer and potential fighter on an upcoming pay-per-view.
The promotion has also secured former AEW talent Bobby Fish for the event.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said of the situation:
“He is going to Dubai to announce on the next Floyd Maywether PPV. The one with Floyd Mayweather and Deji, the reality guy. Youtube Guy. He’s not a boxer. Bobby Fish is also boxing on that show.
“So, he’s going to be a colour commentator and that promotion wants Sammy to be a sports entertainment fighter, so they’re looking for celebrity fighters and for whatever reason they chose Sammy as being a celebrity fighter.”
Meltzer’s co-host Bryan Alvarez then asked the question many of us are probably wondering upon hearing that:
“Has he done any fighting?”
Meltzer then responded:
“Not that I’m aware of. But that’s not important. A lot of the guys that do these celebrity fights have done no fighting, and a lot of them get knocked out because they’ve done no fighting.”

Guevara has been in the headlines recently due to an alleged backstage altercation between himself and fellow AEW star Andrade El Idolo.
