A big update has emerged on the AEW return of Samoa Joe, who hasn’t wrestled in almost four months.

Samoa Joe last wrestled on the July 10 edition of Dynamite, losing to Chris Jericho in a Stampede Street Fight.

He was written off TV in a big way, being taken away from the arena in an ambulance after being driven through a wall on a forklift.

As was previously reported, Joe was written off AEW TV so he could film for the second season of the Twisted Metal Peacock series.

We now have an update on the production of this series, with writer Michael Jonathan announcing on social media that they’ve wrapped production on Twisted Metal season 2.

Dave Meltzer provided further updates on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, noting that Samoa Joe is “eligible for return” and is available to AEW from now.

Samoa Joe is the body actor for Sweet Tooth in the Twisted Metal series, with the character’s dialogue voiced by Will Arnett.

The popular star notably started the year as AEW World Champion, before dropping the gold to Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty in April.

Strickland went on to lose the title to Bryan Danielson at All In London, who was defeated by Jon Moxley at WrestleDream, who currently holds the championship.
