Samoa Joe Considers A Backstage Role in WWE

Samoa Joe is seeking a backstage role in the WWE. However, fans don’t need to be concerned just yet. Joe plans to transition after he retires from his in-ring career. Joe still has years left putting the Coquina Clutch on opponents but he isn’t a rookie. It is very practical for Joe to consider his future outside the ring. He discusses the possibilities with the NotSam Wrestling podcast.

“If I have something that I can contribute and my participation in the industry is going to make it better I’m all for it. I’m definitely not going to stick around longer than I’m welcomed.”

Joe is very frank about WWE not being his only consideration. Though he doesn’t go into specifics, Joe mentions reaching out to other promotions. He does have prior relationships with other notable promotions including Ring of Honor and Impact wrestling (formerly TNA).

“That being said, I’ve been in talks with WWE and several other people about you know at some point in my life doing some more backstage stuff. You know I loved being a part of the developmental and being with the newer wrestlers.”

Joe does express his fondness for NXT and is willing to consider a position there.  As a former NXT champion, he definitely has the experience. Joe, hopefully, isn’t retiring soon but having Samoa Joe protégés would soften the blow.

“My time in NXT, I really enjoyed and I really like the program and the culture that they’re starting down there. It’s something special and I wouldn’t mind being a part of it later in life.”
