For someone who generally only expresses himself with a high degree of violence, that was an incredibly well articulated, diplomatic response…
Almost statesmanlike, in fact…
Oh my God, is Samoa Joe preparing a campaign to become the next mayor of Huntington Beach?! Probably not, but these are the questions we have to ask ourselves in 2018.
The ‘Samoan Submission Machine’ was also asked about his next opponent should he win the WWE Championship from AJ Styles, the man he faces in a few short weeks at SummerSlam.
“That answer is very simple. It would be whoever is worthy of being the number one contender. If we look up and down the Smackdown roster, we could see a lot of great possible match-ups. There are Jeff Hardy, Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton out there, not to forget Rusev. You know, there are a lot of first time ever match-ups there. After I win the championship, I’ll be happy to take on anyone.”
Did Samoa Joe just tease a future match against Rusev? Oh be still, my beating heart…
A full transcript of the interview, in which Joe goes on to hype Aleister Black and Velveteen Dream as potential future main roster call-ups, is available here.
