Anoa’i Family Member On Original Plans For Bloodline WWE Raw 30 Segment WWE

Former WWE star Samu Anoa’i has explained why he missed WWE Raw 30, discussing the original plans for the Bloodline segment on the show.

Originally advertised for the January 23 episode was an acknowledgement ceremony for Roman Reigns, featuring every generation of the Bloodline.

Ahead of the taping, the segment was changed to a Tribal Court session for Sami Zayn, following friction between the then-Honorary Uce and the Tribal Chief.

Speaking on the Two-Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, Samu Anoa’i noted that the segment was changed because Rikishi was sick, and his father Afa couldn’t travel for the event:

“It was supposed to be Rikishi, myself, my dad, and my uncle to name a few. My dad couldn’t fly at the time and Rikishi had pneumonia at the time so, everything just got put on the back burner.”

Acknowledging his Tribal Chief, Samu noted:

“Of course (Roman is ‘The Head of The Table.’). Listen, you brought these people (fans) to be able to pay attention, to bring it back.

“I mean, not that it has gotten boring or anything, just sometimes wrestling does that, It just flat lines for a while and then it makes a comeback all the time.

“Wrestling just does that. It’ll go dead and something else will pop up. Some new thing that will last five minutes and go away. Nothing’s really changed on the landscape or the format.

“So it’s, it’s pretty obvious you know, the ratings and everything like that, that Joe’s doing, it’s phenomenal, great business. I’m glad he has a lot of creative control.”

Sami Zayn is slated to challenge for Roman Reigns’ WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at the February 18 Elimination Chamber event, after turning on Reigns at Royal Rumble.
