Report: Major 2022 Release Seen As ‘Turning Point’ For Sarray In WWE WWE

More details have emerged on Sarray’s reported WWE departure, with a previous release reportedly pointed to as a ‘turning point’.

According to a report from Tokyo Sports, Sarray is no longer with WWE NXT and will be returning to Japan.

Fightful Select (subscription required) has now confirmed this, however it was noted that WWE has not confirmed Sarray’s departure to Fightful officially.

In the report, Fightful stated that sources told them that the ‘beginning of the end’ for Sarray was in early 2022, when several of her biggest supporters were let go from the company.

WWE notably had a round of Performance Center cuts in January 2022, which saw some notable names leave the company, including William Regal.

Fightful’s report noted that the departure of William Regal specifically was one that many sources pointed to as a ‘turning point’.

Regal notably returned to WWE in January, and currently serves as the Vice President of Global Talent Development.

Many reportedly felt like the ‘writing was on the wall’ for Sarray as far back as Spring 2022.

Some Performance Center regulars reportedly noted that Sarray hasn’t been at the facility in ages, and they weren’t given answers when asking about the Japanese star.

It was widely accepted by those within WWE that the creative direction given to Sarray during her time with the company was ‘outright bad’ according to the report.

The popular star last wrestled for WWE on the August 2, 2022 edition of NXT, losing to Mandy Rose in singles action.

Sarray has revealed that she will make an official announcement on her future on Monday, March 13.
