Sasha Banks On Why She Missed SummerSlam

Sasha Banks On Why She Missed SummerSlam

Becky Lynch is the current SmackDown Women’s Champion as of this writing (October 16). She won the championship in shocking fashion at SummerSlam, when she returned to WWE and defeated then-champion Bianca Belair for the title in 28 seconds.

Becky’s return was used as a last minute substitute for Sasha Banks, who was originally slated to clash with Belair on the show, but was pulled from the show due to unexplained reasons.

Sasha recently spoke to the New York Post, where she was asked about her unexplained absence from the Biggest Party of the Summer. Sasha remained very tight-lipped about the situation, saying:

“There’s no reason. I’m not telling you anything. (Laughs). You’re not Oprah. You’re not the WWE Network, you’re not getting me the views. I’m not telling you my secrets. You can read my book. You can read my documentary when I want to speak about it. Thank you very much.”

Sasha continued on, speaking about Becky’s return. Banks explained why she’s inspired by ‘Big Time Becks’, saying:

“It’s completely so inspiring. To see her come back looking better than she’s ever looked. And to put out a baby and have a six pack, you know she’s coming for everybody’s throat. It just really makes me what to step up my game because I have no idea what it takes to be a mother on the road. They all inspire me so much that they can just do all of this.”

Finally, Sasha outlined her intentions to regain the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the blue brand at Crown Jewel. She said:

“I can’t let Bianca and Becky, two Raw superstars (after the draft) take my hard work, my SmackDown women’s championship to that show, so I definitely have to make sure that I keep that SmackDown title on ‘Friday Night SmackDown.’ And with Charlotte Flair coming into the mix on SmackDown, it’s definitely going to be a cool little rivalry that we’re gonna have.”

Banks made her return to WWE back at Extreme Rules, and will face both Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat match at WWE Crown Jewel on October 21 in Saudi Arabia.
