Major Scrapped Bloodline WWE WrestleMania Championship Match Revealed? WWE

Scrapped plans for a potential WWE WrestleMania 40 championship match between members of the Bloodline stable have been revealed.

Gunther’s legendary 666 day reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion came to an end back at WrestleMania, when Sami Zayn defeated him to capture the championship.

However, plans for the championship at WrestleMania could have been a lot different.

Gunther defended the championship against Jey Uso on Raw back in March, with Gunther picking up the win thanks to interference from Jimmy Uso in the lead up to their clash at WrestleMania 40.

However, former WWE host Matt Camp discussed the match on his Wrestling Matt show, where he said that there were plans for Jey to wrestle Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania before the match happened on Raw.

Futhermore, Camp noted that Jey beating Gunther for the title and defending it against Jimmy at WrestleMania was also in play for the show.

He said:

“There were plans at the beginning of the year for Jey and GUNTHER for the IC Title – they ended up doing it on Raw, but that was in play as a potential WrestleMania match.

“That was in play between Royal Rumble and WrestleMania which I know it eventually happened. That was in play.

“How about this – Jey beating GUNTHER was in play for the IC Title before WrestleMania, with the idea of doing Jimmy/Jey for the IC Title at WrestleMania. I know that was talked about.”
