When the 2022 Royal Rumble pay-per-view had concluded, fans were surprised to see that no stars from NXT 2.0 were featured in either the men’s or women’s Royal Rumble matches.
Several NXT names were reportedly considered for a spot in the match, including current NXT Champion Bron Breakker, who recently began a feud with Raw star Dolph Ziggler.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE at one point considered doing a spot with Ziggler and Breakker in the Rumble, to help build up NXT.
The spot didn’t happen as it was later decided that nobody from NXT would be featured in the match.
Breakker recently teamed up with Tommaso Ciampa to defeat Legado del Fantasma on NXT 2.0, and appears to be on a collision course with Santos Escobar for the championship at NXT Vengeance Day.
