A former WWE star has shared details about a scrapped storyline with Paige that would have seen them paired up for an eventual romance.
While Shelton Benjamin was released from WWE in September 2023, he had been with the company on his most recent run since 2017 after a previous stint from 2002 to 2010.
While discussing several past storylines that had been pitched and he thought were proceeding, Benjamin revealed an interesting one upon his 2017 return that was scrapped.
Shelton Benjamin told Metro about a WWE storyline plan with Paige (now Saraya in AEW) that was abandoned:
“This is when I came back the second time. I think Paige was the General Manager for SmackDown.
“The idea was I will start off as kind of her bodyguard, but I think it was going to turn romantic and that was all – they were all set to do that, and then it just didn’t happen.”
Also in the same interview, Benjamin talks about how he almost had a foray into singing on WWE TV after Vince McMahon suggested he play ‘Mr Entertainment’ and play the piano.
In February 2024, Benjamin made his return to in-ring action for Prestige Wrestling where he defeated Tom Lawlor.
Saraya leads the Outcasts group in AEW, currently joined by Harley Cameron and Saraya’s real-life brother Zak Knight.
