Former WWE Writer Reveals Scrapped Plans For WrestleMania 35 Match WWE

A former WWE writer has revealed scrapped plans for a WrestleMania 35 match.

Former WWE creative team member Dave Schilling discussed and shared his memories from WWE WrestleMania 35 on Twitter.

At the event, Samoa Joe defended the United States Championship against Rey Mysterio. The bout ended up being the shortest match on the card, only going 58 seconds with Joe defeating Mysterio.

During his watchthrough of WrestleMania 35, Dave Schilling took to Twitter to reveal scrapped plans for the Joe vs. Mysterio match that was supposed to involve Dominik Mysterio.

Explaining that plans were in place for Dominik to be stretchered out in the lead-up to the event, Schilling tweeted:

“Next match is Rey Mysterio vs Samoa Joe for the United States Championship. Joe was supposed to stretcher Dominik in the build. We even got Dom licensed in Maryland so he could bump on SmackDown but Rey was hurt and it ended up being a heatless squash.”

Now four years on, Rey and Dominik Mysterio look like they are on their way to their first-time ever singles meeting against one another at WrestleMania 39. This will follow Rey being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2023.
