On last week’s episode of SmackDown, we saw a number of matches take place, including Ricochet vs. Happy Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura vs, Ludwig Kaiser, and a gauntlet match to decide the number one contender for Liv Morgan’s SmackDown Women’s Championship.
We also saw a tag team match between the Viking Raiders and two jobbers called Jim Pulkey & Tommy Gibson, but it seems this wasn’t always the plan.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, Drew Gulak was originally supposed to be a part of this match, presumably tagging with someone, but plans were changed for an unknown reason.
Despite being a regular name on house show cards, Gulak has appeared very infrequently on WWE TV over the past year. He is recognised as one of the most under-utilised members of the entire WWE roster, and unless Triple H has major plans for him, you can’t really see that changing any time soon.
If you’re in the UK but didn’t manage to get tickets to Clash at the Castle on September 3, WrestleTalk is hosting a watch party at The Joiner on Worship in Shoreditch, London, and we’d love for you to join us! Click here for more details.
