Scrapped plans for a segment originally scheduled for Tuesday’s edition of NXT 2.0 have been discussed in a new report.
As per Fightful Select (subscription required), a number of newer female recruits were going to be involved in a backstage segment. It is unclear why this segment was eventually nixed.
Before the September 21 show, it was reported that WWE was considering making NXT an edgier product, targeting the 18-34 demographic.
Fightful’s report also pointed out that language has already been loosened on the show, stating that character points like that of Josh Briggs have been shot down in the past, as WWE previously wanted to refrain from bar or alcohol imagery.
On the show, Briggs and Brooks Jensen revealed that their bond was built during a bar fight. Also on NXT 2.0, NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa and Bron Breakker defeated Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland in tag-team action.
CM Punk has now shared his honest opinion of Bron Breakker, reacting to criticisms of his name change.
