Scrapped WWE Plan For Roman Reigns To Lose Championship Revealed WWE

Nixed plans for Roman Reigns to lose WWE title gold at a recent premium live event have been revealed.

Roman Reigns is currently recognised as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, after unifying the WWE and Universal titles after defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 in April.

Reigns most recently defended his gold against Logan Paul at Crown Jewel on November 5.

Prior to this bout, he put his title on the line against Drew McIntyre at the September 3 Clash at the Castle premium live event in Cardiff, Wales.

Speaking with GiveMeSport, WrestleVotes has revealed that there was at one point a pitch for McIntyre to win either the WWE or Universal championship.

Describing the idea as ‘convoluted’, WrestleVotes noted:

“The only thing they could think of was with Austin Theory. He was going to somehow make it known that he was only cashing in for one of the belts.

“Therefore, it became a triple threat, and Tyson Fury stopped him like he did, and Drew would then would take one of the titles.

“For whatever reason, that didn’t work, and it sounds really convoluted. I don’t know how you’re gonna pull it off on TV.”

Austin Theory attempted to cash in his Money in the Bank contract during the bout, but was knocked out by Tyson Fury before his addition to the bout was made official.

Theory ultimately cashed in on Seth Rollins for the US Championship on the November 7 edition of Raw, but was defeated following interference from Bobby Lashley.
