Semi-Finals Set For The AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament

AEW held the Quarterfinals for the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament on Dynamite. The 4 first-round matches were as follows:

  • Wardlow vs. Jungle Boy
  • Kenny Omega vs. Sonny Kiss
  • Penta El Zero M vs. Rey Fenix
  • Colt Cabana vs. Hangman Page

The opening match of the show was Wardlow vs. Jungle Boy. The match was a great little opener for the show between to guys with incredible futures in AEW or wherever they choose to spend their careers.

In the end, Wardlow’s power was just too much to overcome. Wardlow hit two F5s to pick up the win.

The second match lasted barely a minute as a new version of The Cleaner Kenny Omega made quick work of Sonny Kiss. Omega hit a V-Trigger and a One-Winged Angel. He then made the cover and the match was over.

Kenny will go on to face the winner of Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero M. In a fantastic match, Rey Fenix hit a destroyer to beat Penta. At one point, it appeared Fenix may have been injured. However, he was able to get back in the match and pick up the win. This match was just terrific.

In the final match, Hangman Page and Colt Cabana put on another great match. It might not have been full of the incredible high spots of The Lucha Bros, but I think it might have been just a good from a psychological standpoint.

This means we’ll be getting the following semi-finals next week:

  • Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix
  • Hangman Page vs. Wardlow

Those are some great second-round matches. As always, we’ll be providing live coverage of the show next week.
