A top WWE star has discussed “inevitably” crossing paths with Roman Reigns.
In November 2012, The Shield of Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns debuted at Survivor Series. The trio quickly became the fastest rising stars in the company, winning championship gold, headlining shows and facing a who’s who of top talent.
Nearly two years later, Rollins betrayed his Shield brethren to join The Authority. Since the breakup of the group, every member has become a multi time world champion, but the trio has remained connected.
With Ambrose now Jon Moxley in AEW, Reigns and Rollins are always brought up together especially now that Seth is the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, while Roman Reigns is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and longest world champion in 35 years at well over 1,000 days.
Appearing on ESPN’s First Take alongside Becky Lynch, Rollins was asked whether he envisions his path crossing again with Reigns. He answered:
“Yeah, it’s inevitable. Our story starts in 2012. We came in together. We broke in together as a team and have gone our separate ways but we’re both at the top of our games.”
“Entering our prime, right in the meat of it. Both World Champions at the same time on separate brands – him on SmackDown, me on Raw. I think inevitably we’re going to cross paths again. We have to.”
“I’m looking forward to it. He’s on an incredible run right now, one of the longest title reigns of all time.”
“Along the way, there’s only been one guy he hasn’t been able to put away and you’re looking at him. If it comes down to it, we’re going to have to tangle one more time.”
Roman Reigns last wrestled Seth Rollins at WWE Royal Rumble 2022 with Rollins picking up the win via disqualification, but Reigns retained his Universal Championship at the time.
