Seth Rollins On Getting Vince McMahon To Reinstate The Curb Stomp

The winner of the 2019 men’s Royal Rumble match, Seth Rollins, spoke with The Wrap to hype up WrestleMania 35. He spoke about his finishing move, “The Curb Stomp”, this was the move he captured his first WWE Championship with at WrestleMania 31.

Vince McMahon decided that the move was too dangerous should children try to imitate it. Rollins would then begin to use the ‘Pedigree’, a move made famous by Seth Rollins’ good ally turned bitter enemy, Triple H. When their story was done, Rollins would revert to using the ‘Ripcord Knee’.

However, Rollins was not contempt, and spoke to The Wrap about how he went about getting his old finisher back.

“It was a conversation that I had to have with [Vince McMahon]. It was something where he had his reasons for why he wanted to get rid of it at the time… When it came down to it, I just went and asked him a few years later. I said, ‘Hey look, I want to do this. Give me reasons not to and I will tell you why you’re wrong and hopefully, we can meet in the middle. He was on my side, I caught him on a good day. Luckily it’s back and hopefully, it’s not going anywhere.”

Rollins spoke about the importance of the move to him, and why he campaigned to use it again:

“I was having trouble getting a finisher that I was happy with and he was happy with. The Pedigree worked for a little bit, and the Ripcord Knee worked OK. But at the end of the day, the Stomp was what I was synonymous with, it’s what I won the title with, it was part of who I was.”

Seth Rollins is set to face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar for his title at WrestleMania 35 inside MetLife stadium. The former Shield member hopes in six days he can deliver the “curb stomp” to the former UFC star on route to his first Universal Championship.
