WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins is set to have a very busy few days next week.
Not only will Rollins defend his new title in an open challenge in Cleveland for the Monday, June 19 Raw but the very next night on NXT he will return to where his WWE journey started and again defend his title, this time against Bron Breakker.
The challenge was officially accepted by Rollins on this week’s NXT (June 13), however, the champ would also react via Twitter to the announcement.
Alluding to his past history on the black and gold brand Rollins posted a gif of rapper P Diddy saying I’m Coming Home.
Before becoming a five-time world champion in WWE Rollins was of course the inaugural NXT Champion, defeating Jinder Mahal for that honor in July 2012.
Rollins paved the way for many other future world champions that held the NXT Title including Big E, Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre.
Breakker is a man many believe to carry the potential to join that list, already holding the NXT Title twice with his second run totalling 362 days.
The clash of generations will take place on a special card dubbed NXT Gold Rush, with the North American Championship also being defended as Wes Lee takes on Tyler Bate with Mustafa Ali as guest referee.
Elsewhere on the card Cora Jade takes on Dana Brooke and a major three way tag team match to determine the number one contenders for Gallus’ NXT Tag Team Championship.
NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes’ next challenger was also determined on this week’s show, to find out more follow this link here.
