For my money, no one in the world does tournaments better than New Japan Pro Wrestling, and the Japanese promotion has just revealed more details for the Super J-Cup that will be returning this year.
NJPW has announced at the Road To Power Struggle show today that the tournament will take place on December 12th next month and will be broadcast live on NJPW World for fans to watch at home.
The eight men who will be competing in the tournament have also been revealed, which includes three former WWE stars, one who was fired only this year as part of the mass releases in April.
Below are the eight-men that NJPW has selected to be part of the 2020 Super J-Cup:
- TJP
- Blake Christian
- ACH
- Lio Rush
- El Phantasmo
- Rey Horus
- Chris Bey
- Clark Connors
The tournament will be the first time that Lio Rush, Chris Bey and Rey Horus have ever stepped inside an NJPW ring. The other five men in the tournament have all worked for NJPW in some capacity previously.
Another interesting name in the tournament is Blake Christian, following reports that he was part of a recent WWE tryout. It seems like things didn’t work out between Blake and the promotion, as he has agreed to work the upcoming NJPW tournament.
