WWE has reportedly made several new signings after holding tryouts recently featuring multiple Olympic athletes.
The WWE ID project highlights a renewed focus on independent wrestlers, but that doesn’t mean WWE won’t be signing outside athletes as well.
As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, 17 Olympic athletes were part of recent WWE tryouts, with at least three of them being offered developmental contracts.
One of those is Aaron Fara, 27, from Austria, who took part in Judo at the 2024 Olympics at the 100kg or less weight level.
He’s described as having “a good physique and is a good media interview and said to be charismatic”.
Another athlete offered a developmental deal is Canadian Shady Elnahas, who also competes in Judo, and is the reigning Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games champion at 100 kg or less aged 26.
Also offered a deal is 22-year-old Francois Prinsloo from South Africa, who competes in discus throwing.
Fara is specifically said to have signed, while the others at this point were ‘offered deals’ but without confirmation they’ve signed them yet. We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
