Shawn Michaels Comments On Cora Jade & Calls NXT 2.0 A ‘Shark Tank’ WWE

Shawn Michaels recently celebrated alongside Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez after their NXT 2.0 Tag Team Championship and now they’re broken up!

Shawn Michaels was recently on WWE’s show, The Bump where he didn’t outright defend NXT 2.0’s Cora Jade turning on her tag-team partner Roxanne Perez but he did seem to acknowledge understanding.

Shawn Michaels, obviously never one to unceremoniously turn on a tag-team partner, commented on some of the factors leading up to the Jade & Perez split, noting:

“I cannot in any way shape or form relate to what Cora Jade and Roxanne are going through. So look, it’s as old as cavemen, right? It’s jealousy, it’s envy, it’s something that every one of us experiences in our lives and in our careers. Do we have the character to not allow it to get the best of us? I, of course, could not in in my career, and clearly Cora cannot either. Once again, it’s heartbreaking to see, obviously, no pun intended. At the same time, [it makes for] riveting television, and I do have to say, strangely enough, I’m excited to see where this goes.”

Expanding on the notably competitive environment likely having an impact on the split of the two best friends, Michaels said:

“I will say, here, it’s like that all the time because this is the most competitive environment. Nothing’s determined here. Unlike SmackDown or Raw, there’s a lot of longstanding, ingrained superstars on those brands. Here in NXT, 2.0, it’s anybody’s ballgame and it is the most competitive environment. We continually have more young athletes coming in to ‘take the spots of other NXT superstars.’ So it’s a shark tank down here.”

Speaking of shark tanks, from elsewhere across the wrestling stratosphere, another totally reliable tag-team partner, Chris Jericho is set to take on Eddie Kingston in a barbed wire shark cage match on the July 20 edition of AEW Dynamite.
