Shawn Michaels Hoping To Avoid ‘Wrestling Tropes’ With Reunited Indus Sher WWE

After nearly six months of coming at the end of last year and start of this year, Veer Mahaan arrived on WWE Raw the night after WrestleMania 38, unloading on Rey and Dominik Mysterio.

Veer then spent the rest of his time on the brand undefeated, but doing so as a rather one note silent foreign heel, which many thought was an underwhelming way to debut him.

Veer recently returned to NXT, seemingly set to reunite the Indus Sher tag team alongside NXT star Sanga, which has been met with mixed reactions from NXT fans.

While the team reuniting and joining the tag team division is a net positive, fans were concerned about what this would mean for Sanga, who had become popular on the developmental show by showing a more laid back side of his personality.

Shawn Michaels spoke about the pair during the NXT Halloween Havoc media conference, where he said that he was hoping to avoid ‘wrestling tropes’ with the team, planning to present them the way that they are.

He said:

“I guess the main roster took Veer and had certain plans for him. We had Sanga down here and when you get to know him, he is an amazing, intelligent, bright man. What we were putting him on television doing is who he is. We found that to be captivating because he’s a huge man, but he’s charming as all get out. We were like, ‘Let’s just do that.’ How long have we done the ‘he’s angry and beats everybody up.’ It appeared that what they were doing with Veer, so when the opportunity came that he was coming back to NXT, we just didn’t want to do that. Whatever they call ‘wrestling tropes,’ I’m of the cloth that if you’re not changing and evolving, if you’re standing still, you’re going backwards. They are both such clean, classy, sharp, really nice guys. We wanted to present them that way. They’re really classy and we thought, ‘let’s do that and present them as who they are.’ I’m not going to give you the whole skinny on what we’re doing, but I think we have something pretty cool and fun, but we wanted it to come in the package that it currently is, which is who they are.”

Sanga recently formed an alliance with Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon before Leon went down with an injury, that will keep her sidelined for 6 to 9 months.
