It’s being reported that it was Shawn Michaels running this past Tuesday’s episode of NXT backstage, which was of course the big relaunch.
With Triple H absent due to his recent cardiac event, and the new direction going forward, there was a lot of uncertainty heading into the show.
As per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, it was Shawn Michaels who was actually running the show, and as had already been reported, Kevin Dunn was there too.
Meltzer said:
“Shawn Michaels was the guy running the show, because Triple H obviously is still not back, probably won’t be back for a while. So Shawn was running it, and Kevin Dunn was there. No Vince (McMahon), no (Bruce) Prichard, although Prichard had gone down recently.
“Vince only went that one day a long time ago when it was all publicised he was there and how ‘everything’s great and nobody has to worry about Vince’, and then the next thing they do, they cut a whole ton of guys without even consulting Triple H on who to cut.
“But Vince did review the script of the show, he was involved in the creative of this show, but not there, and he was not the key guy or anything like that.”

It’s unclear whether Vince will continue to review the script every week or if he was just checking things because it was the first episode.
Reports have suggested he and his team (Prichard, Dunn, John Laurinaitis) will be involved in making big-picture plans and decisions going forward.
