Shayna Baszler was injured during her NXT Women’s Title match with Kairi Sane on Sunday (October 28) at WWE Evolution.
According to Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Baszler suffered some kind of ankle injury, and needed to use crutches once she got backstage.
Baszler won the match thanks to interference from both Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke, becoming the first two-time NXT Women’s champion.
Thankfully for Shayna, it doesn’t look like the injury is overly serious, as she was spotted hobbling backstage, which suggests she felt there was no need for crutches.
Although it has not been specified what the injury is, Meltzer noted she may be out for a week or two while she recovers.
It is unclear what the next few weeks will hold for Baszler, but you would assume Sane will get some kind of rematch.
Many are speculating that Shafir and Duke’s involvement was a way of creating a new “three horsewomen” stable in NXT, who may dominate for some time before being called up to the main roster.
Perhaps Io Shirai and Kairi Sane can form their own group to go up against them?
