Shayna Baszler Answers Whether Wrestling Or MMA Is Harder WWE

Former WWE star Shayna Baszler has given her assessment as to whether wrestling or MMA is the harder endeavor.

Baszler is not stranger to either world, having been a kickboxer and mixed martial artist before stepping into the wrestling ring on the independent circuit prior to her WWE run.

Signing with WWE in 2017, Baszler would remain with the company until her departure in May of this year and has since returned to the independent scene.

Speaking to Catch Club, Baszler reflected on both her MMA and wrestling career as she explained which was harder, saying:

“I think each is harder in its own way. I think that pro-wrestling is, over time, going to be harder on the body because you have no time off.

“When you do MMA, you have a fight, and it is very hard on your body. One fight is harder on your body perhaps than one match, but you have one fight and then you have some months off.

“Sometimes there would be weeks, two weeks in a row, I’d wrestle every night with WWE. But in saying that, cardio is much more difficult in MMA, because as soon as the opponent sees you slow down, they’re going to come at you, so you have to train to keep that up, whereas in pro-wrestling there are spots where you can accelerate (and decelerate).”

A former two-time NXT Women’s Champion, Baszler would also reveal that her run in the “Black & Gold” era was a highlight of her life.

Baszler’s mixed martial arts career would see her hold the Freestyle Cage Fighting Women’s Bantamweight Grand Prix Championship and The Cage Inc. Women’s 140 lbs Championship.

With multiple championships in MMA and wrestling, Baszler has addressed rumors about a potential backstage role in WWE.
