WWE star Sheamus has commented on his level of intensity and how he’s maintained his longevity within the company.
Sheamus made his WWE main roster debut back in 2009, and now 16 years later is regarded as one of the most popular names on the roster, still regularly featured at a high level on Raw.
He appears to once again be taking aim at the one championship he’s never held, the Intercontinental Title, as he appeared on Raw last night to confront Dominik Mysterio.
Speaking after the show on the official WWE Raw Recap, Sheamus discussed how his intensity is what’s kept him unique throughout the years.
He said:
“I knew I had intensity that nobody else had, and that’s really what’s kept me going, kept me unique. As well as my skin color and red hair and all that stuff, and my accent being Dublin, but I think that the intensity is something that I’ve always really leaned into. That’s really what sets me apart, and I feel why I’m still in the game.
“People talk about John Cena retiring – I think he’s like a year older than me and I feel like I’m just getting started. Last week I was in there with JD (McDonagh) just ripping it up.
“When I first came here, there were a couple of people that were just phoning it in on their merits. I looked at it and said, the day I don’t go out there and give 110% or give everything I possibly have in every single match – I don’t care if it’s Raw, SmackDown, I don’t care if it’s in NXT or it’s Main Event that they tape before the show. I won’t go out there and not give everything I have in every single match I have.
“Especially with my neck, I thought with my neck I was written off, so every match I have, every time I get out there, even tonight running out with Dom (Mysterio) and knocking the bollocks out of him, I still get that crazy adrenaline rush, because every bleedin’ day is a gift.
“Every time I go out, I’m still going, I’ve still got it, I still train very hard. That’s how great I feel about this business.
“I just wanna have banger after banger. It’s not just a line, it’s not just a slogan, it’s a way of life I have.”
