WWE Star Sheamus Reveals Graphic Head Injury Amid In-Ring Absence

WWE star Sheamus has shared graphic photos showing off a bloody injury following what he described as a “gym fail.”

The Celtic Warrior recently fuelled speculation about his in-ring return, sharing photos following a training session at the WWE Performance Center with Hank Walker, Tank Ledger and NXT North American Champion Myles Borne.

Sheamus has now shared some less-positive training photos on Instagram, following a head injury.

The first shows Sheamus holding a towel to his head while blood drips down his face and arms. The second photo shows a deep laceration on his head being tended to by medical professionals.

Indicating that he was injured while training at the gym, Sheamus shared these photos with the caption:

“gym fail #fml 🏋🏼🤕⚠️”

Sheamus has been out of action for just under seven months at the time of writing due to a shoulder injury.

He last wrestled on the November 17, 2025 Raw episode, teaming with Rey Mysterio and John Cena against Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh in what would ultimately be Cena’s third-to-last match ahead of retirement.

With the deepness of the head wound, any plans in the works for Sheamus’ return will almost definitely be put on hold.

While it’s currently unclear how long the injury will keep him out of action for, head injuries are taken very seriously by WWE nowadays, so Sheamus will likely have a number of medical assessments before he’s cleared for physical activity again.

A new timeline for Sheamus’ WWE return has not been confirmed, however the top priority will be Sheamus’ safety and recovery, rather than anything on WWE TV.
