Last night on Raw, Dean Ambrose wrestled what was billed as his final WWE match before he departs the promotion upon the expiration of his contract later this month.
The match never actually got going because Ambrose jumped opponent Bobby Lashley before the bell after the former two-time Intercontinental Champion promised to “take care” of his wife Renee Young when he left. They brawled on the stage and Ambrose was drilled through the announce table in his final act for the promotion.
However, that was not the last fans in the Barclay’s Center saw of Ambrose. With Raw off the air, Seth Rollins invited Shield stablemates Roman Reigns – who was not on the show last night – and Ambrose to join him in the ring. Rollins said he wanted to give Ambrose the send off he deserved and spent several minutes putting him over. “I learned so much from this man. It breaks my heart to see him go”
The crowd chanted “please don’t go”, to which Rollins said “I tried that one guys, it didn’t work, I promise”
Ambrose cut a passionate promo, saying the two sweetest sights he ever saw were Rollins beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania to take the title back “for the boys” and Roman Reigns “kicking the s**t out of cancer”.
He then talked about how when the Shield made their in-ring debut in the same building all those years ago, Arn Anderson described the trio before the match as “two indy guys and a football player” but that they tore the house down that night.
After taking a little dig at “three frigging hours of Raw”, Ambrose thanked the fans and the trio gave one final fist bump as the Shield theme hit.
All of the feels!
