SmackDown Almost Catches Raw In Ratings

The returns of Becky Lynch and AJ Styles helped SmackDown pull 2.26 million viewers, which is higher than the show’s recent average.

The number was up from last week’s 2.15 million and represented a 96% retention of the Raw audience, which is a significantly higher figure than usual.

Raw pulled the fourth worst number in the history of the show on Monday night, an embarrassing 2.37 million, and the show had the second worst third hour ever.

It’s not all good news though. In the direct year-to-year comparisons, SmackDown was down over 400,000 viewers from the equivalent show from this time in 2018, which pulled 2.68 million viewers. That is a total SmackDown could not even come close to hitting with SmackDown 1000.

As Raw continues to decline and SmackDown continues to be the far more watchable of the two weekly broadcasts, could we see a situation in the near future where the blue brand overtakes the flagship show? It’s a scenario that seemed unfeasible at the start of the year but is now a very real possibility.
