WWE SmackDown Live Tag Title Match Set For SummerSlam

Kofi Kingston and Big E of the New Day met Sheamus and Cesaro of the Bar last night, in the final of the SmackDown Live Tag Team Tournament. The winning team would go on to challenge the Bludgeon Brothers at SummerSlam for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships. This came after the Bars defeated the Usos last week, and the New Day’s comfortable win over SAnitY the week before.

The two teams clashed in a fantastic match. The bout was given ample time, allowing all five men to shine, with highlights including Kofi’s usual acrobatics, demonstrations of strength from Cesaro well beyond what one would expect from his size, and Big E executing a fast-paced series of belly-to-belly suplexes on Sheamus.

Following a number of near-falls, Cesaro held Big E in a prolonged submission move. In the end, E won the battle of wills, using his strength to lift the ‘Swiss Superman’ into the air. When Kingston dove from the top rope, the match was over with the New Day victorious and declared the winners of the SmackDown Live Tag Team Tournament.

It appears that the Bar will have to wait for a chance to regain championship belts after their WrestleMania defeat in the Raw Tag Title match against Braun Strowman and 10-year-old Nicholas. Perhaps soon, New Day will implore us to Clap for our FIVE time champs and FEEEEEL THE POWWWWAAAAAAAA!

This all depends on whether the “power of positivity” can stop the Bludgeon Bros.’ dominance at SummerSlam in two weeks time, on August 19.
