On last week’s episode of SmackDown, King Woods defeated Ridge Holland in just 49 seconds in his first televised match since January.
Woods had been dealing with an injury since the start of the year, and despite having a few house show matches in recent weeks, hadn’t wrestled on TV until last week.
Interestingly, Fightful Select reports Woods wasn’t originally booked in the match, with the original plan being Kofi Kingston vs. Ridge Holland instead.
It isn’t clear why this change was made, or when the decision to swap Woods for Kofi was made. It also isn’t clear whether Woods’ inclusion changed to outcome of the match.
The original plan, according to Fightful, was for Woods to accompany Kofi to the ring, but at some point this plan was changed.
Fightful is also reporting the current plan is to have Woods and Kingston to face Sheamus and Butch in a tag match at WrestleMania. The original plan was for a six-man tag, but the serious neck injury to Big E saw these plans changed. The match could also be scrapped altogether.
