WWE SmackDown Overnight Viewership Down For October 8

The overnight viewership figures for the October 8 edition of SmackDown on FOX, featuring first-round tournament matches, have been revealed.

As per Spoiler TV, this week’s episode of SmackDown drew an average of 2.034 million viewers. This is down from the 2.135 viewers who tuned in on October 1.

In the key 18-49 demographic, Friday’s show received a 0.45 average rating. Last week’s episode earned a 0.62 rating in the same demo.

Here is the hourly breakdown for the October 8 show:

Hour 1 – 2.094 million viewers, 0.50 in the 18-49 demographic

Hour 2 – 1.974 million viewers, 0.4 in the 18-49 demographic

Last Friday’s edition of SmackDown notably featured the beginning of the 2021 WWE Draft, which will take effect following Crown Jewel. On this week’s episode, it was announced that Edge and Seth Rollins will do battle inside Hell in a Cell during the Saudi Arabia event.

Also on the show, first-round matches for the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournaments took place.

The last half hour of next week’s ‘supersized‘ SmackDown will clash with the start of AEW Rampage. Tony Khan has addressed the two shows going head-to-head, stating that he can’t wait for Rampage to beat SmackDown in the ratings.
