Pat McAfee Nominated For 2023 Pro Football Hall Of Fame WWE

A WWE SmackDown star has been nominated for the 2023 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Before becoming a color commentator on SmackDown alongside Michael Cole, Pat McAfee spent eight seasons as a premier punter in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts.

On the latest edition of the Pat McAfee Show, the NFL alum found out that he was one of 129 Modern-Era Nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2023.

In the Punters/Kickers category, McAfee is joined by Gary Anderson (K), Jason Elam (K), Jeff Feagles (P), Jason Hanson (K), John Kasay (K), Sean Landeta (P), Shane Lechler (P), Ryan Longwell (K) and Matt Turk (P).

The PFHOF will trim this list down to 25 in November and the final 15 will be announced in January 2023.

There have only been five players from the Punter and Kicker category to be enshrined into the Hall. McAfee will only become the second punter in the Hall of Fame if selected, joining Ray Gay.

The former Indianapolis Colt retired from football in 2017, citing his third knee operation in four seasons.

Pat McAfee is currently on hiatus from his role as SmacKDown commentator after taking on the role of co-host on ESPN’s College GameDay.
