WWE SmackDown star Xia Li may have teased returning to her previous gimmick in a video she uploaded to Twitter today (June 1).
Xia Li was called up to SmackDown as part of the 2021 WWE Draft, and took on the gimmick of ‘the Protector’ as a babyface upon her arrival to the main roster.
This was a change from her NXT persona, who was a heel as part of Tian Sha alongside Boa and Mei Ying.
Now a heel again on the SmackDown brand, Xia may be headed back to her Tian Sha roots, as the video she uploaded of her training ended with a shot similar to those from the Tian Sha days, complete with a shot of Mei Ying.
Boa, who was the other part of the act, has not been seen on NXT television in months. The issue arises with Mei Ying, who was portrayed by Wendy Choo prior to her repackaging, so that character can not return.
