Some In WWE ‘High’ On Released Star WWE

There were reportedly some within WWE ‘high’ on a WWE star that was released from the company earlier today.

The latest round of WWE releases took place last night and this morning, with a number of names being let go from the company, which you can see here.

Among the names was Giovanni Vinci, who had made two appearances on SmackDown last year.

Vinci was removed from Imperium back in April, with Ludwig Kaiser attacking him following a defeat in tag team action, before Vinci was then drafted to the SmackDown brand.

Vinci wouldn’t make a single appearance on SmackDown for five months, before vignettes began airing for him similar to his character he portrayed in NXT.

However, after weeks of hype, Vinci was beaten in his return match by Apollo Crews in six seconds, before also losing a rematch to Crews two weeks later, which was his final match in the company.

In an update on Vinci from Fightful Select (subscription required), there were some in the company that were high on Vinci upon creating the vignettes for him last year.

That didn’t end up translating to television, and most people in the company that spoke to Fightful were of the belief that he was pushed down the card with them knowing he wouldn’t be brought back.
