WWE’s Sonya Deville Resolves Gun-Crime Charge By Completing Pretrial Intervention Program WWE

WWE’s Sonya Deville has resolved her recent gun-crime charge by completing a pretrial intervention program.

In February, WWE star Sonya Deville (Daria Berenato) was arrested in New Jersey for having a firearm in her vehicle.

Sonya had a permit for the firearm in Florida, but her permit was not valid in the state of New Jersey, where the arrest took place, with her since being charged with one count of unlawful weapon possession for carrying a handgun without permit.

Per the Courier Post, Sonya has since resolved her charge by completing six months in a pretrial intervention program, which she finished in late November, Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Per the Courier Post:

The 10-page memo said incarceration was “neither necessary nor appropriate” for “otherwise law-abiding persons who inadvertently violate New Jersey’s gun laws.”

It said those defendants must be under the “misimpression” that their possession of a weapon legal in their home state would also be lawful in New Jersey.

It said prosecutors, depending on the circumstances, could either consent to a pretrial intervention request or could pursue a non-custodial probationary sentence.

The option of a diversion program previously was available only in cases that presented “compelling and extraordinary reasons,” the memo noted.

Sonya was the victim of a home invasion back in August 2020, with her stalker being arrested and charged for aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief for breaking into her home.

Sonya is currently out of action with a torn ACL suffered back in August.
