UPDATE: Another AEW star has cleared his Twitter profileamid contract expiry speculation. More at this link.
There has been some speculation around the contract status of Alan Angels of the Dark Order following a cryptic tweet.
A previous report stated that a number of ‘under the radar’ AEW deals have expired, with talents not yet going public with the news of their departures.
Alan Angels has now fuelled rumors that he’s one of the stars who has finished up with AEW, blacking out his Twitter profile picture and tweeting:
“Excited for what’s next”
The tweet of course could be in reference to anything, but fans have theorised that the tweet and the blacked out social media photo are indications that Angels is preparing for a new chapter of life, post-AEW.
As of writing, Angels is still listed on the AEW roster page. The star last wrestled for AEW during the June 11 Dark tapings, and has since worked for NJPW, competing during the June 19 STRONG: Ignition taping.
Angels first started appearing for AEW in March 2020, with his star-making match against Kenny Omega that April impressing many, leading to him eventually signing with the promotion.
Former Dark Order member Stu Grayson left AEW after his contract expired at the end of April.
We will continue to provide updates on Alan Angels’ status as they become available.
