Following Friday’s episode of SmackDown at the Allstate Arena, WWE taped matches for the December 24 Christmas Eve edition of the show.
During the taping, a 12 Days of Christmas Gauntlet bout took place to determine the #1 contender to Shinsuke Nakamura’s Intercontinental Championship. Spoilers ahead.
Sami Zayn was ultimately victorious, eliminating Ricochet to win the gauntlet. He will challenge for the Intercontinental Title at WWE Day 1 on January 1.
Following news that Kevin Owens has re-signed with WWE, it was reported that there has been some locker-room talk indicating that Zayn has agreed to a new deal with the company too.
