No, this is not one of those typical “major stars” pieces where the person ends up being someone like Tyler Breeze who has not wrestled on the main roster in months. This time it is genuinely big stars: Sasha Banks and Bayley.
The brand new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions turned up during the NXT tapings at Full Sail, their old stomping grounds, to proudly show off their new trinkets to the adoring audience that helped get them to where they are in the first place.
Then, in a major piece of news (and a further sign that WWE’s attempt to run several brands simultaneously is starting the crumble), the duo stated that the belts would not only be defended on Raw and SmackDown but on NXT too.
Thus, for the first time ever (ever being since the formation of NXT, in this case) we have a championship in WWE that can be defended across every brand. Wouldn’t it be great if WWE got rid of the majority of its title belts and just made that the case with all of the major straps?
