Dave Meltzer is reporting that WWE is planning on having Roman Reigns defend his Universal Championship against Rey Mysterio at Hell in a Cell on June 20.
This comes after The Usos lost both of their SmackDown Tag Team Championship matches to Rey and Dominik Mysterio on last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, the last of which was by DQ.
Fans speculated that WWE may have Roman Reigns face Jimmy Uso at the show, which would mirror Roman defending his title against Jey at last year’s event. However, WWE will reportedly be going with Rey vs. Roman for the pay-per-view.
With just two episodes of SmackDown between now and Hell in a Cell, you have to suspect that WWE is going to book the match between Rey Mysterio and Roman Reigns on this week’s SmackDown.
As of right now, it’s unclear whether or not WWE is going to have the match take place inside Hell in a Cell. This does seem likely though, with no Hell in a Cell matches announced for the pay-per-view as of yet.
